Drivers, take note

Judgement calls and lower speed limits.

The Transport Minister will announce new speed limits today that will affect rural drivers and people who live in housing estates.

According to the Irish Independent, drivers on narrow country roads can now “use their judgement” as to what speed they drive at, but they can’t go over 80km per hour.

You’ll also notice a new sign on country roads as the 80km speed limit signs will be replaced by a new black circle with diagonal line.

The change to the housing estate speed limit means drivers can’t go over 30km per hour.

There will also be a new road sign for that change which will be a 30km limit alongside an image of people playing football near a car and a house.

The update of all speed limits should be completed within two years.
