The chain is opening an tenth venue in Ireland just in time for Christmas.

JD Wetherspoons is opening a new pub in Dublin city centre next month, creating 100 new jobs in the process.

The pub chain has spent around €4 million on their third venue in Dublin, renovating HQ Gastrobar and Nutbutter in Hanover Quay.

The new pub, which will open on Tuesday, 7 December, is set to be called The South Strand, in reference to its location.

The site was purchased two years ago for an undisclosed sum from Fulminis Limited.

The pub was set to open in 2020, but faced multiple delays due to Covid.

The announcement of this new bar has pushed the number of Wetherspoons bars in Ireland to 10, with venues in Dublin, Cork, and Carlow.

The South Strand will be open from 8am until 11.30pm Monday to Thursday, 8am until 12.30am on Friday and Saturday and 8am until 11pm on Sunday.

There will be food service in the bar as well from opening until 11pm, every day.

Family dining will also be available, with children accompanied by an adult allowed in the pub until 9pm throughout the week.

“We are delighted to be opening another pub in Dublin city centre, in the immensely popular Grand Canal Dock district,” said Dan Foster, Wetherspoon’s area manager for the Republic of Ireland.

“The Silver Penny and, more recently, Keavan’s Port have both been welcome and great additions to the city’s social scene – and we are confident that The South Stand will prove to be the same.”
