Today (Friday, 30 December) is set to see widespread outbreaks of rain, which will cause localised flooding in places.
Saturday and Sunday will also see widespread showers, with sleet and snow possible on New Year’s Day on higher ground.
Temperatures will remain mild at 9 degrees today but are set to drip overnight to as low as -4 on Saturday and -3 on Sunday.
One forecaster said: "It does look like there will be scattered outbreaks of rain and they may fall as sleet and possibly snow on higher ground.
"It could be dodgy for drivers going out on New Year’s Eve, we’re expecting some frost and icy stretches, especially in the northwest."Explore more on these topics:
