Another big departure.

Sarah McInerney, winner of this year’s News Broadcaster of the Year at the IMROs, will be leaving Newstalk at the end of the year, according to reports.

McInerney also won the best Current Affairs Programme award at the IMROs, an award she shared with Chris Donoghue, who announced last week that he was also leaving Newstalk.

According to a report in the The Times, McInerney plans to write a book and focus on her TV3 current affairs programme The Sunday Show.

Donoghue announced his decision to leave the station a few days ago, having decided to take up a role as special advisor to Simon Coveney, the current Minister for Foreign Affairs.

The departures follow that of Dil Wickremasinghe, who also walked away from the radio station following their handling of an incident where former High Noon host George Hook made incendiary comments about rape. Hook was removed from his daily show and will take up a different role at the station later this year.
