Nine additional Covid-19 deaths confirmed, 522 new cases

The latest Covid figures have been released.

Nine additional Covid-19 deaths have been confirmed, as well as 522 new cases.

Four of these deaths occurred in March, three occurred in February, one was in January while one remains under investigation.

The age of the people who died were aged from 69-94 years, the Department of Health confirmed.

The death toll from Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland is now 4,405, and the total number of confirmed cases is now at 222,169.

280 of today’s cases are in Dublin, 28 are in Meath, 28 are in Kildare, 26 are in Cork, 19 in Donegal and the remaining 141 cases are spread across 19 other counties.

The Irish Government announced today that it has set a target of administering 84,166 Covid-19 vaccines for next week (the week beginning 8 March).

Earlier on Friday, Northern Ireland’s Department of Health reported that a further 166 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Sadly, 2 further deaths have been reported.
