Nine further deaths confirmed due to Covid-19, 59 new cases
The public are urged to continue following the public health guidelines over the long weekend.
Nine more people with Covid-19 have died in Ireland, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre confirmed on Saturday.
There have now been a total 1,651 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland. This figure includes the denotification of three deaths.
As of midnight Friday, 29 May the HPSC has been notified of 59 confirmed cases of Covid-19.
There has now been a total of 24,929 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ireland.
The HSE is working to identify any contacts the patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread.
Earlier on Saturday, HSE figures showed that there are currently 42 people with Covid-19 being treated in intensive care units around the country.
