A nine-year-old child has passed away after becoming ill at a swimming pool in Dublin.

According to The Irish Times, the incident occurred at Tallaght Community School Sports Complex in Balrothery where emergency services attended the scene. A Garda investigation has been launched but early reports suggest this case is being treated as a sudden death for it's believed the girl had an underlying health condition. The nine-year-old was taken to Our Lady's Children's Hospital but died soon after. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
