NRA employee accidentally shoots himself at the company’s headquarters

Rory Cashin

Sweet, sweet irony.

The Gun Violence Archive have logged 15,704 incidents of gun violence in 2017 at the time of publishing, and of those 552 have been reported as “unintentional shootings”.

That means every day in the United States between five and six people are shoot by accident.

As a nation that accident-prone, you’d think the last thing you’d give the general populace would be open access to fire-arms.

However, the National Rifle Association continue to ram home the fact that it is every American’s constitutional right to bare arms.

Their argument must be getting more and more difficult to argue though, especially when one of their own staff members managed to shoot themselves at the company’s headquarters over the weekend.

The 46-year-old man reportedly (via The Hill) shot himself in the “lower body” while holstering his weapon during the company’s firearms training session.

He was taken to hospital with a minor wound.

So far, the NRA have not made an official statement on the matter.
