It is understood that economics students were inadvertently provided with answers in an exam this week.

An issue that arose with an economics exam paper this week is currently being investigated by NUI Galway after reports emerged that students were inadvertently supplied with solutions to the questions on the paper.

According to Galway Bay FM, NUI Galway confirmed that there was an issue with the paper, they said that it was dealt with promptly and are satisfied that they have taken the necessary measures to ensure that students were not adversely impacted.

The university didn’t divulge the nature of the issue that was investigated to Galway Bay FM, nor did they elaborate upon the measures subsequently taken, but the radio station understands that solutions to questions on the paper were included on the paper.

A spokesperson for the university issued the following statement to JOE on Friday morning in relation to the issue.

“Earlier this week an issue arose with an economics exam paper which was dealt with promptly by the University.

“NUI Galway is satisfied that the necessary measures were taken to ensure that students are not adversely impacted. A printing error on part of the economics paper was identified and addressed during the exam.

“Students were advised of a revised marking scheme to address the issue.”
