Barcelona is in meltdown on Sunday afternoon after police forces attempted to prevent people from voting for Catalonian independence.
With the poll declared illegal by Spain’s constitutional court, police forces used batons and rubber bullets to prevent people from casting their ballots.

It has now emerged that at least 760 people have been injured in the clashes. The Spanish interior ministry said that 12 police officers have also been hurt.

Carles Puigdemont, the Catalan leader, said: “The unjustified use of violence by the Spanish state will not stop the will of the Catalan people.”
Barcelona FC’s league game was being played behind closed door after the country’s football authorities refused to postpone it.
The BBC reports that people had occupied polling stations since Friday in a bid to keep them open.
