Temperatures set to drop to freezing conditions on Sunday night

Weather

Wrap up, wrap up.

October is almost over, so you know what that means.

No, not Halloween. Winter.

Met Éireann has advised the public to expect lows of minus four degrees overnight on Sunday 28 October.

While the day will be mainly dry and sunny throughout, highest temperatures are set to peak between seven and 10 degrees.

Sunday evening will continue to be dry and clear to begin with, but cloud is expected to increase from the Atlantic, bringing a little patchy light rain and frizzle to the west coast towards Monday morning.

It will become breezy along Atlantic coasts with fresh south to south easterly winds, while winds elsewhere will remain light.

Lows of -4 to +2°C with frost are forecast, along with the risk of fog patches.

Monday itself looks about the same, with any frost and fog anticipated to clear during the morning.

Dry and sunny spells should follow for most of the country, though it will be a cloudier day in coastal Munster and Connaught with patches of rain expected.

Highest temperatures during the day should be between six and 10 degrees.
