Bank holidays in Ireland

Take note.

We’re three Bank Holiday’s into 2019 which means that in the Republic of Ireland, there’s six more Bank Holidays left in the year.

If you are looking to start planning a little holiday, or if you just can’t wait to have a day off work again, you may be interested in all of the Bank Holidays in Ireland for 2019:

  • Monday, 18 March – St Patrick’s Day (17 March falls on Sunday)
  • Friday, 19 April – Good Friday *
  • Monday, 22 April – Easter Monday
  • Monday, 6 May – May Day
  • Monday, 3 June – June Bank Holiday
  • Monday, 5 August – August Bank Holiday
  • Monday, 28 October – October Bank Holiday
  • Wednesday, 25 December – Christmas Day
  • Thursday, 26 December – St Stephen’s Day

*Good Friday is not technically a public holiday. While some schools and businesses close on that day, you have no automatic entitlement to time off work on that day.

And if you’re living in Northern Ireland, here are all of the national holidays you have to look forward to:

  • Friday, 19 April – Good Friday
  • Monday, 22 April – Easter Monday
  • Monday, 6 May – Early May Bank Holiday
  • Monday, 27 May – Spring Bank Holiday
  • Friday, 12 July – Battle of the Boyne
  • Monday, 26 August – August Bank Holiday
  • Wednesday, 25 December – Christmas Day
  • Thursday, 26 December – St Stephen’s Day

So you see, it’s not all bad. It’s no time at all until St Patrick’s Day rolls around and we’ll be able to have the craic once again for the long weekend.

Get planning it now!
