One of Donald Trump’s staff must be wishing they could delete this tweet

Trump Comey

It has not aged well…

FBI Director James Comey was fired out of the blue on Tuesday by US President Donald Trump.

In a statement released by the White House, it was said that Trump acted on the advice from Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“Today, President Donald J. Trump informed FBI Director James Comey that he has been terminated and removed from office,” the statement read.

“President Trump acted based on the clear recommendations of both Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.”

However, reports continue to circulate that Comey was fired because he refused to give up an investigation of alleged Russian interference with the US election.

Of course, the decision to remove Comey faced criticism from many quarters, with both Democrats and Republicans raising concerns over the removal of Comey from his post.

But many people were quick to point out this tweet from Sarah Huckabee, Deputy Assistant to the President and Principal Deputy White House Press Secretary, from the height of the election in November last year when rumours were swirling about Hillary Clinton.

We bet she wishes she could go back in time and not send this, and now, deleting it will do nothing because the damage is already done.

We bet Trump wasn’t expecting to be receiving criticism from his own staff about his actions… albeit in a roundabout kind of way.

But plenty of Twitter users were quick to point out the irony of Huckabee’s tweet, as reported by Indy100.
