One person has been refused entry to the US through Dublin Airport pre-clearance

JOE

The news was confirmed this evening.

One person has been denied entry to America after trying to pass through pre-clearance at Dublin Airport. According to RTÉ, a spokesperson for the Department of Transport confirmed the incident.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has confirmed that the incident occurred on Saturday and the person who was turned away is “lawfully resident and working in Ireland.”

During a round of Leaders’ Questions, Kenny also stressed that dual citizens will not be stopped from entering the USA if they’re travelling with Irish passport.

This news follows President Trump’s recent policy changes regarding immigration. The US President has put an indefinite ban on refugees from Syria and also a 90-day bar on citizens from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

Dublin and Shannon are two of the airports around the world that offer pre-clearance when travelling to America. This means that travellers don’t have to go through any checks once they land.

It is not yet known who the person is or what their nationality is.
