Shocking news from Longford this evening.
Reports from the Abbeyshrule airfield in Co. Longford suggest that the pilot of a light aircraft has died following a crash in the locality.

Paul Byrne, the southern correspondent for TV3, has further reported that the pilot of the light aircraft died as a result of the incident.

The Gardaí are yet to issue a statement on the incident.
