The cinema confirmed the news on its social media.
Galway cinema the Pálás has announced it will be “closed until further notice” after a “break in” incident.
Operated by film production company Element Pictures, who also run the Light House Cinema in Dublin, the Pálás is located on Merchants Road in the Irish county’s Latin Quarter.
Pálás ‘closed until further notice’ after break in
In a statement on Monday morning, the three screen independent cinema wrote on Twitter:
“Hi folks! Unfortunately, we experienced a break in last night and will be closed until further notice while we assess the situation.
“We really appreciate your understanding and support during this time and will keep you updated on when we’ll be re-opening. Thanks for your patience!”

A Garda spokesperson also told JOE about the incident: “Gardaí responded to reports of a burglary which occurred at a business premises on Merchants Road, Galway city in the early hours of this morning, Monday 12th February 2024.”
“Investigations are ongoing.”
