A domestic flight in America was forced to make an emergency landing on Tuesday morning after one of its engines was severely damaged.

The Southwest Airlines flight from LaGuardia to Dallas Love Field made an emergency landing at Philadelphia.
Pictures posted to social media show the wreckage of what looks to be part of the front of the engine missing entirely.
Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel says firefighters responded to an engine fire and fuel leak around 11:10 a.m. Thiel says one passenger died and that 12 other passengers were assessed on the scene. Seven were treated on scene for minor injuries.

The plane had 143 passengers and five crew aboard.
At least a dozen firefighters and several emergency vehicles flooded the scene.
Some people on the plane have reported that a female passenger was sucked through a window mid-flight after the engine was damaged.
WACU corroborated these reports by stating that a passenger was “partially sucked out” of one of the plane’s windows when the engine exploded and shrapnel from the engine pierced through a window
One passenger broadcast the landing via Facebook Live.
Southwest said in its statement that 143 passengers and five crew members were on board the plane and said it is in the process of transporting customers and crew into the terminal.
“Safety is always our top priority at Southwest Airlines, and we are working diligently to support our Customers and Crews at this time,” the statement said.
