Passenger plane carrying 157 people crashes en route to Nairobi, Kenya

Tragic news.

And Ethiopian Airlines flight en route to Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya, has crashed. It is not expected that any of those aboard have survived the incident.

“The Office of the PM, on behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, would like to express its deepest condolences to the families of those that have lost their loved ones on Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 on regular scheduled flight to Nairobi, Kenya this morning,” the office of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said on Twitter.

A statement made by the airline confirmed that 149 passengers were aboard the plane when it crashed, as well as eight crew members. The flight number was ET 302.

The statement further made it clear that contact was lost just six minutes after the plane took off from Bole Airport in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia.

As of Sunday morning, neither the cause nor the precise location of the crash is known.
