Woman killed in Clare crash named as Peggy Twomey, mother of Marty Morrissey
She was the driver and sole occupant of the car.
A woman killed in a single vehicle collision in Clare on Tuesday (7 December) has been named as Peggy Twomey, mother of RTÉ sports presenter Marty Morrissey.
Twomey, who was aged in her 90s, was named locally by the Irish Examiner.
The crash took place at Annagh in Miltown Malbay, Clare at around 12.30am on Tuesday.
Twomey's body has since been removed to Limerick University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is due to be conducted at a later date.
The road has been closed off to the public to allow for an examination to be carried out by Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions put in place.
Gardaí are now appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
They are particularly urging any road users who were travelling on this road at the time with camera footage to make this available to them.
