Two arrested in connection with murder of Cork man in 2015

Peter Murphy’s body was discovered at his home in Shanavoher, Cork in February of 2015.

Two arrests have been made as part of the investigation into the 2015 murder of Cork native Peter Murphy.

On Wednesday (16 October 2019), Gardaí arrested two men aged in their 20s and are currently being detained at Mallow Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

Murphy’s body was discovered at his home at Shanavoher, Bweeng, Cork on Saturday 7 February, 2015.

He was 37 years old.

A post-mortem examination carried out at Cork University Hospital by the assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster established that his injuries were inflicted as a result of an assault.

Speaking at Mallow Garda Station today, Superintendent William Duane said:

“Gardaí continue to investigate the murder of Peter Murphy at his home in Shanavoher.

“We would like to thank the members of the community for their assistance to date but we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing.
