Phibsborough

There you have it. Phibsborough is one of the coolest places in the world.

Phibsborough has once again been named as one of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods.

In 2019, it was knocked off its perch by Stoneybatter, but Phibsborough is now en vogue in 2020.

In its list of the 40 coolest neighbourhoods in the world, Time Out magazine ranked Phibsborough at number 27, saying that it combines “old-school charm and contemporary buzz”, which is hard to argue with, let’s be honest.

“Locals are spoilt for choice with an abundance of coffee shops, restaurants and pubs right on their doorstep. Neighbourhood café Bang Bang is a one-stop shop for brunch burgers and political tote bags,” the Time Out review read.

“Sports bar The Back Page serves pizzas named after some of Ireland’s greatest athletes, while Victorian boozer The Hut slings ‘pints of plain’ (Guinness) by the armful.”

League of Ireland fans will be happy to hear that the Bohs murals are praised, and that “if you’re looking for signs that Dublin’s heart is still beating, look no further than this brilliantly unhurried, unvarnished part of town”.

They can say what they want; we think that the Chinese restaurant Kung Fu Buffet opening at 10am everyday is what sealed the deal…

26 neighbourhoods around the world somehow ranked ahead of Phibsborough on the list, with Esquerra de l’Eixample in Barcelona taking home the top spot.
