Pic: A Dublin bar is offering free pints if the Yes Vote passes and the offer still stands even if it doesn’t

Fair play to all involved. Cue a stampede!

Fair play to all involved. Cue a stampede!

The marriage referendum takes place this Friday as Irish citizens finally get the chance to cast their vote on the issue of marriage equality.

The chances are that most people will have made their minds up already on the very serious issue but a bar in Dublin is hoping to sway people towards a yes vote with this very generous offer.

Publin have just tweeted news that On The Back Page – a very well known bar on the Phibsborough Road, Dublin 7 – are offering a a free round if the Yes vote carries and marriage equality passes.

On The Back Page is firmly in the ‘Straight Up for Equality’ camp, but they’re also willing to console people in the event that the No vote wins out.

Clearly a free drink is scant consolation but it’s still a very sound gesture.

We have a feeling that plenty of people might take them up on this offer so it might be a good idea to ring ahead! This place could be absolutely wedged on Saturday night thanks to this very kind offer.
