Although his big day was curtailed by a hamstring injury early on, Paul Mannion collected his first senior All-Ireland medal yesterday and was given an extra surprise after the final whistle.

The Kilmacud Croke’s ace has been in sparkling form this season in the most competitive forward unit in the country and was sure that his sister Lucy was cheering him and the rest of the boys in blue on from Australia.

The corner-forward was unaware that Lucy had in fact secretely made the long journey home to make it to Croke Park for the big day and surprised her brother after the final whistle.

A proud day for the Mannions, and we have to congratulate Lucy on not only the effort she put in, but also in managing to get a coveted ticket. Very impressive indeed.

Thanks to Kilmacud Crokes Camogie Page for sending this our way.
