Pic: A terrifying* scene from a flood-ravaged small town in Kerry yesterday *not very terrifying

We sincerely hope that the people of Sneem emerged unscathed from the devastating flood that hit the Kerry town yesterday.

Many Irish towns have suffered the devastating effects of flooding in recent years and it’s certainly not something to laugh about, but we defy you not to at least smile at a scene captured in the town of Sneem, county Kerry yesterday. Somebody tell Noah we’re going to need that ark.

In fairness to whoever cordoned off the area in question, there’s every chance that there was a pothole in the road that could have caused serious damage to passing cars or people who took a wrong step; it’s just the use of the ‘Road Flooded’ sign that makes the whole thing seem just a little bit ridiculous.

From our research into the matter, the photo does appear to have been taken yesterday and has been doing the rounds online since; if anyone from the area would like to confirm that it’s legit or to let us know that we’ve been had feel free to do so on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail to [email protected].

Still a great photo all the same.

Hat-tip to Anthony Dinan for the heads up on this one
