Justin MacLochlainn makes a late bid for one of the pictures of the year.
Those in the know promised us that this year’s Geminid meteor shower would be one of the most spectacular yet. The annual event this year was expected to bring a high rate of meteors visible to the naked eye, with up to 100 to 120 per hour predicted.
Running from December 12 to December 16, if you are lucky and the skies are clear, you should see something but we doubt you’ll see anything as good as this fireball captured in Donegal last night.
Justin MacLochlainn was out with the Donegal Photographic Tours night photography workshop and he captured this amazing snap.
In fairness, Fanad Lighthouse on its own looks great at night, but the addition of the fireball in the sky makes it a superb picture.
If you are out and about tonight, do keep an eye out and you spot anything, do send it in.
Thanks to Gerard O'Kane for the email.
