Pic: This ad from a Galway tyre shop has to be a joke, right?

From a bygone era of women being chained to sinks.

In the dark old days, women were considered as second class citizens, seen merely as servants and assistants to their partners or husbands.

Independent women were viewed suspiciously and some even ended up on a stake.

Today, thankfully, things are different and the ladies do as they please.

This ad in Galway, although it may have its heart in the right place, is so wrong on so many levels.

That old chestnut of women being incapable of knowing what to do with cars and God forbid asking them to change their own tyre has reared its rubbery head here.

We are sure there are women (and men) out there who could benefit from some tutoring on how to change a tyre, but a ‘tyre awareness’ evening?

What’s next? A steering wheel convention?
