A major search operation has come to an end after a body was recovered in the River Lee.
It's been reported that a car entered the water on Horgan's Quay shortly before 7pm last night.
Authorities rushed to the scene near Cork's Kent Railway Station.
An urgent response was launched by Cork City Fire Brigade, An Garda Siochana, and the National Ambulance Service, with assistance from the RNLI.
After around two hours, the responders located the vehicle on the deep water quay.
A body was recovered from the car and was taken to Cork University Hospital.
CCMPSAR said that their volunteers had assisted in a "multi agency emergency incident alongside our colleagues from, Crosshaven Coast Guard RNLI Crosshaven Lifeboat Station, Cork City Fire Brigade, National Ambulance Service (NAS) and An Garda Síochána Cork.
"Our dive unit dived on the vehicle a short time later and recovered deceased person. Our condolences to the deceased family and friends. RIP."
