Steve Bruce was the captain of England when they won the World Cup in 1966? Really?

Suggesting that footballers in general are a bit slow might be just a lazy stereotype, but one can’t help but arrive at that conclusion when reading the Oldham matchday programme from the weekend.

Defender Connor Brown took on groundsman Billy Quarmby in the Face 2 Face quiz that is published in the matchday programme every week and some of the answers given by both contestants need to be seen to be believed.

Reading through the answers again, we can’t help but think that Brown or Quarmby didn’t put too much thought into their answers or they were deliberately taking the p*ss, but either way, neither of them come out of this particularly well.

And as for the quizmaster, giving half a point (a quiz-winning half a point as it turns out) to Brown for saying that ‘Ben Mountain’ was the highest mountain in Great Britain? For shame.
