Gardaí stopped a car going almost twice the speed limit in Galway City on Friday morning.
A photograph from the An Garda Síochána Twitter page this morning showed a speed gun that had captured a car doing 178 kilometres per hour in a 100 kilometre zone.
The speed translates as just over 110 miles per hour.
The caption that was shared alongside the photo read: “This car was travelling at 178kph in a 100km zone near Galway city. Driver said he was “test driving it”. Unfortunately he has failed the ‘speed gun test’ and will be rewarded with a court date.”
