As temperatures get colder, the chances of patchy black ice appearing on Irish roads becomes all the more likely.
Not only that, but Gardaí released data today that revealed, on average, 32 people were killed across the November and December period in the past ten years.
With that in mind, it’s crucial that drivers stay as safe as possible on the roads over the coming festive season.
Gardaí stopped a driver this week on the M9 travelling well over the speed limit, and posted about the incident to their Twitter account.
They wrote: “179km/h with temperatures close to freezing. Charged to court. Penalty 2 year driving ban and fine. Please #SlowDown.”
