Remember that badass Danish fighter pilot selfie we featured a few weeks back? Well, a pilot in the Norwegian Air Force has just taken a better one…

The pic above comes from a collection of selfies taken by Norwegian military personnel during their annual Cold Response exercise. The photos feature members from the Norwegian military, along with some military allies from various different countries, as they go about their training exercises and you can check out the entire 58-picture collection here.

Speaking to Mashable, Fredrik Tandberg, a public affairs officer for the Norwegian armed forces (and the man who came up with the selfies idea), said: “I think it is a good way to show that the soldiers in both the Norwegian armed forces and our allies are people like everybody else.

“People often have stereotypical thoughts of soldiers — by taking the photos themselves, it shows what [the soldiers] want to show.”

Naturally, the soldiers weren’t allowed to use their own personal phones, but the lads from the Norwegian military’s communications department were more than happy to let the troops use their devices for the snaps.

Except, of course, for the unnamed fighter pilot in the Lockheed Martin F-16 above, who used “a camera that is always carried on patrols”.

Here’s a look at some video footage taken during the aerial exercises and don’t forget to vote for your favourite Norwegian military selfie over on their Facebook page.
