We bet you, like us, have a few old football jerseys tucked away in the back of the wardrobe. Jack Charlton-era Ireland shirts, mid-90s horror shows from your team of choice and probably a smattering of GAA and rugby shirts too, we all have some old gems we just can’t bear to get rid of.

Many of them, after years of being worn at five-a-side, while jogging and slouched in front of the TV eating pizza, are washed out wrecks that no longer look anything like the shiny original purchased all those years ago.

But now, thanks to a tweeter called Chris Hall, we know that instead of putting our beloved shirts in 40 degree washes every few weeks, we should have just left them at the bottom of a pond for the last 18 years.

Chris tweeted this picture out over the weekend, when he finally discovered what happened to a long-lost replica Sheffield Wednesday shirt.

Okay, it is not exactly in mint condition, but how many Sheffield Wednesday jerseys from the 1994/95 season are these days?
