The new building, nicknamed the Walkie-Talkie, is already causing quite a stir as pedestrians are being forced to shield their eyes from it’s powerful glare and as you’ll see in the pic below it has already done some serious damage to a Jaguar.

According to Jalopnik, the car’s owner, Martin Lindsay, only parked his Jag in the glare of the building for an hour, but the heat melted the plastic around the rear window beyond repair. And it’s not just Martin.
A van driver who had parked under the building returned to his motor to find the dashboard had been melted along with his bottle of Lucozade.
Locals have now re-nicknamed the building the Walkie-Sorchie, while some people on Twitter have sided with the 50ft magnifying glass…
