Now that’s just being greedy.
Maybe we’re being a little naïve about it, but we’d like to think that the majority of people would do their best to try and return a wallet to its owner if they happened to come across it in a public place; you’d appreciate somebody doing it for you if you lost your purse after all.
According to the Meath Chronicle, one man in Kells wasn’t feeling so charitable when he chanced upon a lost wallet in the Aldi car park in the town recently and rather than try and return it, he went through its contents, found a winning betting slip-up, went to the bookies and cashed it in for himself.
As detailed by the report in the Chronicle – kudos to the sub-editor who penned the headline by the way – while he might have thought he was carrying out the perfect crime, it’s likely to backfire on him in a major way as Gardai have reviewed CCTV footage, are now following a definite line of enquiry and will probably get their man before too long.
It being Meath, one could call this a royal f**k-up, or was that term copyrighted after the Leinster Final defeat to the Dubs last Sunday?
We’re joking Meath fans, just joking.
