Touching gesture in the FAI Cup in support of Gary O’Neill

Homenews

The League of Ireland clubs have rallied behind Drogheda United striker Gary O’Neill and tonight’s match between St. Pats and Shamrock Rovers was another prime example.

The striker was diagnosed with testicular cancer this week and is set for surgery over the coming days and his fellow players have been quick to lend their support to the Drogheda front man. The four quarter-finals will be marked by commemorative t-shirts worn by players on all eight teams beforehand to show that the player is very much in the thoughts of his peers. Team captain's Conor Kenna and Shane Robinson can be seen in the main image along with referee Alan Kelly and his asisstants in support of O'Neill before the game, while below, Shelbourne Robert Bayly lends his support. shel We wish Gary the very best in his recovery and hope the battling skills he has shown on the pitch will transcend off the pitch.
