Not the most conventional use for the iconic trophy

Maybe they’ve won it so many times the allure of the trophy has worn off…

While Galway and Tipperary played out a classic for the ages in Croker yesterday, Kilkenny were sitting at home admiring the game on show and thinking about the first Sunday in September.

Of course, watching the hurling can make you quite ravenous and a stew was in order to help kill off the knowing at your belly.

Every stew requires an appropriate serving dish and it just so happened that this house in Kilkenny had something on hand to do the job…

11896925_10207020683692737_420257314_nThe cup remains idle for long periods of the year apart from the immediate aftermath of the All-Ireland Hurling Final when it’s filled with copious amounts of alcohol, so it’s great to see it get a bit of use…*

*We’ve been reliably informed that it was not used for stew despite the ominous threat above.
