Pic: These ‘Austerity – Ah shhtop’ election posters in Limerick are very fake but very funny

With great names like Shark Murphy and Luke Steele, they’ve certainly got our vote.

With great names like Shark Murphy and Luke Steele, they’ve certainly got our vote.

Local election time is upon us and try though you might, you won’t be able to escape it over the next few weeks, whether it be through direct canvassing from the candidates themselves or the election posters that are scattered all over the place.

Of course, there are mischievous sorts out there who can’t help but have a bit of fun with those posters; some do something as simple as draw a fake moustache on one of the candidate’s faces or scribble out a letter in their surname to make a dirty word, but two lads in Limerick have gone one step further by making a poster of their own.

Shark Murphy and Luke Steele, who both belong to the Fianna Something or Other party, have been using the poster below in an effort to get the people of Limerick behind their election campaign, using the powerful tagline ‘Austerity – Ah Shhtop’.

Such a tagline will no doubt appeal to the no-nonsense element of the electorate and were the lads two actual candidates, they’d certainly have our vote.
