PIC: This is how a 5-year-old uses his dinner to explain Irish history

Tony Cuddihy

You have to feel a bit sorry for his dad in all this.

Brendan Smyth’s five-year-old nephew gave his unique slant on the events of 1916 at the dinner table, using just his dinner of sausages, mashed potatoes and turnip.

The child’s father gets an awful going over, given the fact that he’s English, but thankfully the mother was there to explain how everyone is friends now (and daddy is as good as Irish, given how long he’s lived here.)

This kid has a bright future ahead of him, once he curbs the hate-speak.
