So simple, yet so effective…
What happened to Limerick woman Joan McLoughlin on Monday night was a very serious and terrifying incident. While driving on the Cappamore to Doon road in Limerick a malfunction in a hilltop farm’s slurry pit saw an estimated 20,000 litres of the stuff cascade down the hill and across the road at great speed.
The pungent wave hit McLoughlin’s Ford Fiesta and swept it into a nearby field but thankfully she escaped unhurt, if understandably shaken by the event.
The road was closed for most of the day yesterday while other cars just missed the incident. Most of the papers cover the story today but the Metro Herald carry it on the front page this morning topped with what can only be described as a slightly crass, but damn-near perfect headline.
