Pic: US News station accidentally tweet out Pornhub link from a user called rockbone

As you do.

JOE

As you do.

We’ve said it before and we’ve said it again, great as social media is in terms of its ability to break news quickly and to keep everyone abreast of what’s going on, you’re never more than a slip of a finger away from complete and utter embarrassment.

Memphis news station WREG News Channel 3 learned that the hard way yesterday when posting a tweet about the weather which was meant to link back to an interactive radar on their own website but instead, included a link to Pornhub, a site we have just been informed (honest) contains material of a racy and NSFW nature.

To compound the embarrassment for the person responsible, the link also included a username, rockbone, arguably the most suitable username for a website like Pornhub you could ever stumble across.

WREG deleted the tweet shortly afterwards but not before some Twitter users had fetched some screen grabs of the offending post and others had some fun at WREG’s expense, including the Pornhub Twitter account itself.

WREG to their credit, acknowledged and apologised for their error, claimed that it was the result of a password hack and subsequently, knowing the amount of unexpected and undesired attention they had received on the day, posted a link encouraging followers to donate to charity.

What fate befell rockbone afterwards we’re not so sure, but we imagine he or she would have reacted in the following fashion once they realised that their costly error had gone viral…
