Benjy now comforta-bull in his new surroundings…

Benjy the ‘gay’ bull who was saved from the slaughterhouse by a campaign backed by Simpsons co-creator Sam Simon has arrived in his new home in England.

Benjy originally hails from Mayo where he had a promising career of fertilising cows ahead of him before it was discovered that his heart wasn’t in the job.

In truth, Benjy showed no interest whatsoever in his female companions and instead found solace in the hooves of other male cattle.

He was due to go on a one-way trip to the slaughterhouse when an internet campaign saved his life and funded for the bull to be transported to the Hillside  Animal Sanctuary in England.

Gay and animal rights campaigners managed to raise €10,000 to help the doomed bull, helped in no small way by a €6,250 donation from Sam Simon.

Benjy arrived in his new home in the past few hours and if rumours are to be believed, he took quite a shine to a bullock named Alex over at the sanctuary in Norfolk within minutes of his arrival.

We hope that the pair are very happy together.
