And no, we’re talking about your own ‘Supermoon’ outside the local chipper at the weekend…

According to people who are much smarter than JOE and who wear lovely white coats, the moon was at its perigee last night, the point at which its orbit is closest to the Earth. The resulting ‘Supermoon’ should have appeared, if you were able to see it from where you live, 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter than it usually does.

Having already brought you some incredible snaps of the weekend’s ‘Supermoon’ from a man who’s currently travelling high above the Earth in the International Space Station, Russian Cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev,  we’ve now compiled this collection of images taken a little bit closer to home.

Here are just a few of our favourite ‘Supermoon’ snaps taken across the island of Ireland last night. If you’ve any more in your own collection please do send them into JOE on Facebook and Twitter. Not that one from the chipper though, you can hang on to that one yourself.
