Mount Sinabung has been erupting on and off for months now, and the latest pictures show an enormous plume of ash shooting into the sky.

Since September 2013, Mount Sinabung in Indonesia has been erupting on and off. But recent days have seen the eruptions multiply, with up to 100 instances in 24 hours in recent days.

The latest pictures, taken yesterday, show one enormous eruption, one that forced the evacuation of thousands of people, with a four-mile excusion zone now in place around the volcano.

Dormat for over 400 years, it sprang to life again in 2010 but this latest series of eruptions is the most violent so far.
