PICS: Tributes have been pouring in for Iggy, the Irish dog killed in the Sweden terror attack

Alan Loughnane

Iggy, a dog adopted from Dublin, was killed in the attack…

Four people were killed and 15 others were injured last week when a man drove a truck into pedestrians on a busy street in Stockholm.

Sweden honoured the victims of the country’s worst terrorist attack in decades with a minute of silence on Monday, as the authorities formally identified the chief suspect in the assault and revealed they’d interviewed 600 people as part of the investigations into the incident.

Candles and flowers have been left along the street to honour the victims of the tragedy.

But there’s one memorial on the street which has a dog collar resting on it along with various kinds of canine tributes.

This tribute is for Iggy, a dog who died in the attack. Iggy had been adopted to Sweden by his owner from Dog’s Aid in Dublin in 2012 and had been living happily in Sweden ever since.

According to Expressen, Carina Olsson, founder of the compound Dogs without homes which finds new homes for stray dogs, met Iggy when the dog lived in Dublin.

Carina said that his death is a great tragedy for everyone who knew him.

Tributes are pouring in for Iggy…

Dogs Aid placed the below tribute at Iggy’s Memorial in Stockholm.

Lola Biverstedt left a card at his memorial saying: “Beloved dog that lost your life on Friday 07 April 2017. Your life was also important, it meant something to someone. Rest In Peace little one, it’s sad that you had to be exposed for someone’s hate. You are surroundered by love. /Lola, Billy (our Shiba Inu) & Patrik.”
