PICS: Two cars ended up in the Liffey after a Garda car chase last night

Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured as a result.

Two cars ended up in the River Liffey in Celbridge after a Gardai pursuit following a robbery in Lucan in the early hours of the morning.

Pictures of the cars were posted on Twitter by Tallaght Ambulance early this morning, with fire brigade units from Tallaght, Dunshaughlin and Naas helping to rescue the cars from the water.

The Garda Press Office confirmed that two males were arrested following a burglary in Lucan in the early hours of this morning.

Shortly after 4am, Gardai were alerted to a burglary at the Weston housing estate in Lucan. Two cars drove from the scene towards Celbridge Village and came to a stop after crashing and entering the River Liffey at Celbridge Bridge. There was no one injured.

Two male juveniles were arrested at the scene and are currently detained at Lucan Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
