Picture: David Cameron calls for austerity while standing next to golden throne

Just like buying a house, we think that this should be all about location, location, location

Just like buying a house, we think that this should be all about location, location, location

David Cameron’s reign as Prime Minister has certainly seen a change in economic policies, and no more so than ourselves here in Ireland, the British public has had to make some fairly sharp adjustments to their spending in the midst of a global recession that has hit one of our biggest trading partners quite badly in the UK.

Last night, David Cameron gave a speech in which he called for further cuts, deepening austerity, and most worryingly lasting austerity, saying that they need to make a “state we can afford” and there will be more “difficult decisions on public spending”.

In case you haven’t spotted it already, Cameron couldn’t have chosen a worse place to give this speech on austerity than the Lord Mayor’s Banquet, where he was surrounded by people dressed up to the nines in incredibly expensive tuxedos, people sitting on GOLDEN THRONES, statues of tiny horses which are (of course) made of gold, and generally surrounded by a haul of gold which would have made even the most greedy of the Spanish conquistadores blush.

We think that this might be a bit of a PR problem for his people to clean up now.
