In case you were looking for a giant portrait of Jesus spanning two acres on Good Friday, here it is
It’s Good Friday, which means that there’s not a pub in the land open. It also means that there are plenty of people who are marking the religious holiday in their own way, none more so than Irish artist Richard Moore.
He has created a giant portrait of Jesus in a field in Drogehda that spans two acres, based on a Byzantine image of the resurrected Christ. It’s pretty big.

Richard told Mythical Ireland that he created the image using fertiliser, and that the eyes are on a line from East to West which goes directly from Drogheda to Croagh Patrick, and a line which also marks the sunrise and sunset of the Spring and Autumn equinox.
There was certainly a whole lot of effort put into the piece, and it took nearly two weeks to create along with another artist, Derek Closkey. We’d say the lads deserve a pint after all that effort, but sure, with the day that’s in it…
Hat-tip to Mythical Ireland and Laura Murphy.
