Prisoner escapes from custody in Dublin while receiving treatment at St James’s Hospital

The incident occurred around 10am on Wednesday morning.

A prisoner has escaped custody and is currently at large in Dublin.

The prisoner managed to escape custody while they were being escorted to St James’s Hospital.

A spokesperson for the The Irish Prison Service confirmed to JOE that the prisoner eluded prison officers on Wednesday morning.

“The Irish Prison Service can confirm that a prisoner has escaped from lawful custody while on escort to St James’s Hospital this morning,” the spokesperson said.

“An Garda Síochána were notified immediately and provided with all the relevant information in relation to the prisoner. The Irish Prison Service is currently investigating the circumstances of the escape.”
