“Major incident” declared at Cork Airport as plane makes emergency landing

Carl Kinsella

A major incident has been declared at Cork Airport as a plane has been forced into an emergency landing.

The Cork Safety Updates page has reported that delays are possible following the emergency landing.

It is believed that the passenger plane was brought down for an emergency landing due to smoke in the cockpit. Emergency services were on standby to deal with the cause of the smoke, and ambulances have also been mobilised.

It has been reported that the flight originated from Birmingham, though it’s destination has not been clarified.

The Sun has reported that inbound flights are delayed until the runway has been cleared and secured.
