Plans for a Dublin cable car, nicknamed ‘Suas’, are to be considered again today by Dublin City Council, eight years after the initial proposal was abandoned.

Back in 2006, before the recession hit the fan, Irish developer Barry Boland unveiled plans for a €80m-€90m cable car project that would run from Dublin’s Docklands west to Heuston Station.

Mr Boland’s idea was given the nickname ‘Suas’, the Irish word for ‘Up’, but the idea never got off the ground… so to speak. The project would see four steel towers being built along the quays, two of which would be 80m high, with the shorter two standing at 40m.

Well, it looks like Mr Boland is taking another stab at the ‘Suas’ project as an updated version of the plans are to be debated by Dublin City Council later today.

Speaking about the project, Mr Boland said: “Some people like it, some people hate it,” reports the Irish Independent.

Here’s a look at what the proposed project might look like with thanks to mcgnie.ie.
